| Most people don't want to talk about things that might offend or create disagreement. While our similarities bring us together, the fact is our differences are what help us grow, as individuals and as Americans. Rather than continue the difficult conversations that have brought about positive change in the last fifty years, we have begun to prefer the illusion of equality to serious discussion. Project 2050 is committed to changing this by restarting these conversations, so that together we can meet and solve the problems that confront our society. Modern America is changing before our eyes, and over the next fifty years we will continue to face serious challenges to traditional ideas of what it means to be an American. In our purpose we discuss these changes, and why it's so important that we become actively engaged now so that our future will be one where there is liberty and justice for all.
Doing this, though, is going to require we change course. Our approach is about bringing people from diverse groups together to share and learn from their experiences, exchange and develop new ideas, to prepare for and construct a better tomorrow. It's going to take thought, will, and action to make the American Dream a reality for all.
Taking action without understanding the problem is misguided. To be effective we need to understand the conditions we live in and the context of our actions. The purpose of our writing is to inform and inspire future conversations. We invite you to explore and challenge our ideas, and take part in this conversation by sharing your own ideas.
